Global health is about protecting people everywhere from diseases and making health care available to all.
The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in late 2019, killed millions of people worldwide and showed how quickly diseases can spread and how important vaccines, health systems and cooperation are.
Diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis still kill millions each year, and germs becoming resistant to antibiotics is a growing danger.
Pakistan has fought polio, dengue, hepatitis and TB, and ran a large COVID-19 vaccination campaign. Clean water, vaccination and primary health care remain priorities.
