The 'Land of Giants', a vast high-altitude plateau that blooms with wildflowers in summer and protects the Himalayan brown bear.
Deosai is one of the highest plateaus in the world. It is covered in snow for more than half the year, but in summer it turns into a sea of grass and wildflowers.
The park was created mainly to protect the Himalayan brown bear. It is also home to marmots, red foxes, golden eagles and migratory birds.
Deosai can be reached in summer from Skardu or from Astore. Sheosar Lake, near its western edge, is one of the highest lakes in the country.
