One of the highest national parks in the world, on the border with China, created to protect the Marco Polo sheep.
The park protects high-altitude grasslands that are home to Marco Polo sheep, snow leopards, Himalayan ibex, blue sheep and marmots.
The Karakoram Highway runs through the park to the Khunjerab Pass, the highest paved border crossing in the world. Visitors pay an entry fee at the park gate.
