Founded the Faraizi Movement in Bengal
After about 20 years in Makkah, he returned to Bengal and called on Muslims to observe the obligatory duties (fara'iz) of Islam and give up un-Islamic customs. The movement also defended poor peasants against Hindu landlords and British indigo planters; his son Dudu Miyan led it after him.
