Biography

A Deoband scholar who broke with pro-Congress ulema and led the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (1945) in support of Pakistan. He hoisted Pakistan's flag in Karachi on independence, led Jinnah's funeral prayer, and pushed for the Objectives Resolution in the Constituent Assembly.
