12th President of Pakistan (2013–2018)
In office: 2013 – 2018
Mamnoon Hussain was a low-profile Pakistan Muslim League (N) businessman and former Governor of Sindh who was elected President in 2013 after Nawaz Sharif's party won that year's general election, holding what had by then become a largely ceremonial office under the post-Eighteenth Amendment constitution.
Hussain's low-key tenure exemplified how the presidency had become a largely symbolic office after the Eighteenth Amendment, with real executive authority resting firmly with the Prime Minister.
Completed his full term and was succeeded by Arif Alvi in 2018; died in 2021.
