2nd Sultan, Lodi Dynasty (1489–1517)
In office: 1489 – 1517
Sikandar Lodi succeeded his father Bahlul in 1489 and is generally regarded as the ablest ruler of the Lodi dynasty, consolidating and expanding the territory his father had rebuilt and governing with notable administrative discipline.
Sikandar Lodi's effective, disciplined administration is seen as the high point of the Lodi dynasty; the city of Agra he founded would go on to become one of the most important cities of the succeeding Mughal Empire.
Died of natural causes in 1517; succeeded by his son Ibrahim Lodi, whose troubled reign would end the Delhi Sultanate altogether.
