15th Prime Minister of Pakistan (2002–2004)
In office: 2002 – 2004
Zafarullah Khan Jamali, a Baloch tribal leader and veteran politician, became Prime Minister in 2002 as the civilian face chosen by President Pervez Musharraf following the first general election held after the 1999 coup, heading a PML(Q) coalition widely seen as closely aligned with the military government.
Jamali's premiership is generally remembered as a transitional, military-aligned government bridging the period between Musharraf's direct rule as Chief Executive and the later premiership of his preferred candidate, Shaukat Aziz.
Resigned in June 2004 under pressure; died in 2020.
